Just got a new 8 core in the office, and now need to upgrade from 5.04 to 5.1; Used to be you could update the full studio for 199 as a download (or something to that affect). Seems to no longer be available. Would upgrade to FCS 2, but we’ve got two older G4’s that are still running strong and used daily, but don’t meet the sys requirements. The big question is does anyone know where I can find this upgrade (without paying the 400-600 ppl want on ebay), or if I do make the leap to FCS2, will I have major issues with backwards compatibility moving project files to the legacy systems? Just doing basic SD editing on a syndicated show; very basic stuff.

No you never could. You had to send in your 5.0 discs and pay for the 5.1 discs to be shipped to you.

FCP 5.1 was never a downloadable update.

And it is no longer available. That version ended over a year and a half ago. Now FCP is up to version 6.
