  • FCP Won’t Load….Help!!!

Posted by Steve Woronko on July 26, 2008 at 1:05 am

I just trashed my preferences using FCPRescue 5. Now when I try to start FCP it’s saying it can’t find a file that’s in a foreign font and to reload Boris Continuum Complete.
I don’t even know if I still have Boris anywhere. Can I delete BorisCC totally and not have FCP look for it when it loads.

    Help!!!!

Go to: Macintosh HD>Library>Application Support>Final Cut Pro System Support>Plugins. Drag your Boris Continuum Complete plugins folder onto the desktop. Now FCP will not look for these plugins when it starts up.

    See if that solves it.

Nope, didn’t work, it says it install from BCC. And being that it’s an oriental font, I don’t really know where or how to look for the missing file.
Also, it’s been so long since I’ve installed Boris, I can’t find it on my computer and have tried to redownload it but it says it can’t find the file from Boris. Is it on the FCP Install disc?

thanks for the response and in advance for any further,

The only Boris stuff that ships with FCP is the Title 3D plugin. As far as I know, Boris Continuum Complete is a separate set of Plugins that you go out and buy.

You might consider just de-installing FC Studio and re-installing everything from your install DVDs. Might save time in the long run. I use FCP Rescue all the time and I’ve never had it delete any critical software that FCP needs to run properly.

You can Google search for a de-installer program called FCS Remover. It’s a freebie app and will get rid of everything to do with FC Studio on your startup drive and allow you to do a fresh install.

I went ahead and deinstalled it. I figured it’s been awhile. But, the Boris popup still appears, but the program loads. So while I am able to go back to editing, that still bothers me that the popup is still there.

Is there any way to get rid of that totally?

    thanks again for your help,

If you can’t find the missing component that’s prompting FCP to inform you it can’t load the Boris CC programming you have a couple of options:

    – look for a de-install app. that may be available for Boris CC, either on the Boris program discs or at the Boris web site. Once the old components are removed re-install Boris CC.

    – do a spotlight search on your startup drive for all remaining Boris CC components and remove the files manually.

    – clone your startup drive to another one using programs like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. Minimum Apple requirements for an external startup drive is firewire 400. Reformat your internal startup drive using your Mac OS install discs and re-install everything.
