I have a camera in vcr mode hooked up. I’m using latest Final Cut Pro. When I go to capture (now) it starts capturing for a few second and gives me this error message:

“Capture encountered a problme reading your data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved.”

Just for more info, this is a tape I recorded over, and I didn’t reset the timecodes or anything. But I would think there’s gotta be a way to simply play the tape and capture, right?

    Any help much appreciated..

    Thanks,

    Miro

Your camera may be in “VCR mode,” but what setting have you chosen in F.C. for your capture?

Are you using a Firewire setting which allows control of the camera through your computer?

Try the “DV-NTSC DV Converter” setting in Easy Setup. You will have to control the camera manually, not automatically through the computer, but this may help you deal with this issue.
