I have a pretty basic question but is. I have HDV footage and wanted to present it on a DVD in 4:3 letterbox. When you do this using a workflow of FCS2->-Compressor3-DVDSP4, shouldn’t the end result be the entire 16:9 footage in a letterbox format or will there always be some cropping on the side edges (i.e. the area outside of the title and action area safe zones).

I was under the impression that when you letterboxed a 16:9 video file to 4:3 letterbox, you still retained the entire 16:9 image without any cropping.

    Thanks!

Nope, the cropping around the edges on a TV, is caused by the TV itself. What you loose is usually minimal though most people will never even notice. Even on a wide screen TV there is a little bit lost on the edges.
