I did a quick search for this, and the most recent answer was in 2004, so wondering if there’s any update on this…

I’m looking for a plugin that will burn in the clip name… I’m making a long sequence of selects to give to client, and without the names of the clips, it’s not going to make an awful lot of sense. The last answer was that FCP didn’t have that functionality, but we’ve moved on a few versions since then.

Is there something out there like that?

Any other ideas or suggestions? I’m looking at an hour-long sequence with about 300 different source clips, so I’m hoping to avoid a written transcript!

    Thanks!

    Al

    (FCP6, by the way)

I don’t know of any way to do this in FCP, other than by adding a title. You’d have to make a title template and superimpose it on each shot. Probably the quickest way to get the clip name is to select it and use Cmd-9 for item properties. It comes up with the name highlighted. You can copy it and paste it into the text template over the clip. That’s about it. You name be able to automate this with Traffic from xm|edit.

    All the best,

    Tom
