i’ve been working on Standerd Def projects for the past couple of months, but recently I’ve been given the opportunity to work on a High Def short film. I’ve never worked with HD and have no idea how much upgrading I’ll need to do in order to do so. Right now I’m working on a PowerBook G4 (1.67 GHz PowerPC, 512 MB RAM) with FCP 5 connected to a miniDV deck and SD NTSC monitor via firewire/SVideo.

I own FCStudio 5.1 although I havent gotten around to upgrading my OS to support it. I know I need to upgrade both my OS and my memory, but what else do I need in order to work in HD?

We need a lot more info. There are several different workflows for HD. What format will the short film we shooting on? How will it be delivered? Web, DVD, Festivals, Theatrical (Digital or Film)? Will it be color corrected too? If so, where and with what?

    Russell,

I should be getting the specs from the production team soon, and as soon as I have those, I’ll post them. Thanks a lot!
