  • Instant HD not working on intel-based Macs??

Posted by Arthur Luhn on April 28, 2007 at 3:33 pm

    Hello,

I installed Instant HD from Redgiant into my FCP and it doesn’t show up on the effects list- I read somewhere that Instant HD has not yet been updated for Universary Binary and so will not show up in any Intel-based Apple products.

    Is this true?

I got this product in order to upconvert some SD 480 footage into 720p24 HD.

If it is true that Instant HD will not show up in intel-based Apple application, then what is the best way to upconvert SD 480 into 720 HD? The 480 SD is 29.97 fps and needs to be converted into 24fps for 720HD.

I am sure this question has been raised and answered so many times so my apologies here.

    Comments and assistance greatly appreciated!

    Thanks..

    FCP 5.1.4
    OS X 10.4.8
    G5 2.66 GhHz Dual-core Intel Xeon
    Panasonic AJ-PCD20

    1 TB Lacie
    MBE v.2

    WHat is instant HD?

You would have needed to purchase a crossgrade for FCP 5.0 for 49 dollars from Apple by NOvember of 2006. If you did not I am not sure that you will have the change to buy that upgrade now.

Sorry- that’s instant HD from Red Giant Software. I have their MBE.2 package (magic bullet) and it did require a supplement download from their website for that, so I am wondering if instant HD needs the same although there’s nothing on their website.

I have FCP 5.1.4 so I am not sure the version is the problem.

    Thanks..

Instant HD does work on Mac Intel machines… this requires an update. You can download it here:
