  • Wrong Frame Rate For Sequence

Posted by Martin Hayward on April 12, 2007 at 6:18 pm

I have a student in my lab that has captured her 24p footage at 29.97. She then created a sequence for 24p where the frame rate is 23.98. Normally I would just create a new sequence with the correct settings and paste her old work into the new sequence. However, this doesn’t carry over keyframes and her project is made entirely of still pictures keyed to move across the screen. I also can’t change the frame rate settings on the old sequence because if there is anything in the timeline, the sequence is uneditable. Any thoughts on what to do so this student doesn’t have a heart attack?

    The footage is 29.97.

    Create a 29.97 sequence.
    OPen the other sequence
    Select all
    Copy the sequence
Paste it in to the new 29.97 sequence.

Unless there is a filmout there is rarely areason to cut 23.98 as the footage is at 29.97 with the pulldown inserted on the tape.

    OPtion two.

    Duplicate the sequence
    Open it and select all
Apple Key+X and to cut the footage
Apple key Zero to open the timeline settings.
    Change the framerate.
Paste back into the same sequence.
