FCP resolution nosedives on Canvas
Posted by Arthur Luhn on March 6, 2007 at 11:09 pmI am importing 720p24n from P2, when it plays in Viewer, it is crystal sharp, but when I transfer to Canvas, the footage takes a nose dive in resolution. Does the canvas have separate settings?
Help!
Thanks,
THE IDIOT

No idea what you’re talking about here. If you’re talking about A/V settings they’re all DVCPRO HD 720p24.
Yet when the footage goes into Canvas, the res. goes down noticeably and the frame shrinks.
How do you even adjust resolution on the canvas?

March 8, 2007 at 3:29 amOkay at the top right corner of your sequence there is tab with the tab of your sequence in it… right below that there is a button that says “RT” this controls the resolution at which FCP will playback your video. This is not related to your sequence settings. However, if your sequence is not set up correctly and you are ,for instance, editing HD into a SDV sequence then yes you will be losing resolution.
In the future you should always post your version of FCP as well as hardware info in your signature when having technical problems.
Hope this helps
