  • Capturing to FC Express from Z1

Apologies in advance for what is probably a very obvious question.

I am trying to capture to Express from a Z1. The Z1 is not a source deck but instead it is acting as an analogue to digital converter. I am playing analogue video into the Z1 and have connected it by firewire to my powerbook. I can see the video in the capture window, but when I go to ‘capture now’ FC wont do it because it can’t see timecode and wants to control the Z1. The only solution I have at the moment is to put a tape in the Z1 and record while the capture is going on.

Is there a way to disable device control? I am not worried about timecode problems as this is a very simple edit and I won’t be recapturing.

    Thanks.

Can’t see this option in Capture box. Could that be because I’m using Final Cut Express 2.03.

    Thanks.
