    Hello all,

Is there anyone out there who can tell me from experience whether or not the new FCP 5.1 update really does allow users to capture 24F footage directly from the Canon XL H1 via FireWire?

I’m editing a film that was shot in 24F, 1080i. And my computer is a PowerBook G4.

Currently, I have FCP 5.0.1, and am using a program called HDVxDV to capture from the Canon as m2t files, which I’m converting to Quicktime using a program called MPEG Streamclip, and then bringing the clips into FCP. This is cumbersome, however, and I’m worried that the clips may not be true 24F and full resolution. I’m wondering if I should scrap the m2t files I’ve already captured, invest in FCP 5.1 and start over.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Best,
    Anna
