a few things with final cut
I have a picture lock of my edit and now I am giving it into the hands of post audio. But all that they ask for, I am not sure how to do it.
1)They want a 1 frame video/audio 2 pop both 2 seconds before and after the sequence.
2)They would also want me to include a timecode window burn within the quicktime export in one corner of the
screen. Is this even possible in final cut?I have some other questions:
1) I worked on a pal project so I had to convert my audio/video settings to dv-pal 48khz anamorphic. but when I try to export the movie (in a dv ntsc setting or anyother settin for that matter) as a self contained movie, it cuts the movie short. the movie is 01:11:45:09 in length and when I export it as a self contained quicktime movie it cuts it off at 9min and 48 sec….every time. I have no in and out points so…. What gives???
2) also, when i convert the picture lock from pal to dv/dvcpro ntsc and then I try to burn the .mov file to dvd on toast 6 titanium, lately, it has not been letting me burn it as a ntsc file but it tells me that it has to burn it in pal encoding. But I converted the film from it’s pal format to ntsc in final cut…. it has only been doing this lately. before it would not give me any problem like this. is final cut or toast to blame for this? or am I to blame for this? Am I clear? if so, then what gives??
3) and one more question what frame rate do u reccommend I make the movie when exporting it as a .mov file. I convert it from dv-pal anamorphic and I wanna make it into an ntsc .mov file. What ntsc setting do u recommend i export it as to get the best quality and should I have it set to 30fps or 29.97fps or what else would u recommend to get the best quality? this film is straight to dvd and well not be broadcasted so I don’t think drop frame is needed.
I know I am asking for alot and I don’t know if I am being clear enough or if I sound like I am talking alot of jibberish but if u could help me solve some of these problems it would be greatly appreciated.

If it is PAL, and you need it to be NTSC, you should convert the whole thing with the Standards Converter from http://www.nattress.com. Is that your intention? To edit the whole thing as PAL, and then convert to NTSC? It might be best to first do EVERYTHING as PAL, final mix and everything, THEN convert. Professionally at a post facility. But maybe Mr. Nattress will digress and explain.
As for #1, use the TONE option under the A in the viewer…use it for 1 frame.
#2, nest your sequence and add the timecode filter…VIDEO FILTERS>VIDEO>TIME CODE GENERATOR.

Too complex to answer without knowing the full details of the project. For instance, is it drama, documentary or music video? Shot progressive PAL or interlaced?

all the advice u have given me was very helpful. Thank You. but what do you mean when you say “nest your sequence” and how do I go by doing that?
