  • Is FCE Native HDV?

What’s the quality difference (CODEC) between FCP5 and FCEHD? Is FCEHD a DV native App? Can it Be? Is there any difference in rendering times during capture, editing and output?

FCE does not edit HDV natively. It converts it to Apple Intermediate Codec during capture. This is not a real-time process. FCP is HDV native and captures in real-time. Editing and output are quite different, but they both work similarly while editing, and take about as much time to output.

    All the best,

    Tom
