  Move on from FCP7 to Davinci Resolve?

  Curious to know if anyone like me still persisting with FCP7 is considering moving or has moved to editing on Davinci Resolve.

  Sure, great colour grading app but the editing after a few short sessions seems efficient and similar to FCP7.

  I have worked in FCPX and been underwhelmed by all the unnecessary functions and also especially the structuring of archive files (bundled into one file/folder that you cannot mess with).

  FCP7 also seems to still be working in Yosemite along with all the plug ins, so is Compressor but not DVD Studio Pro.

  You can’t go home again. The breakage to the Final Cut Suite done by multiple OS upgrades is un-doable. Motion and Compressor have advanced on their own.( LOVE LOVE LOVE the keyframe-able draw mask tool in Motion, BTW)

  If you’re planning to move, and you just can’t stand the FCPX setup, then Resolve and Premiere are your next, most-7-like choices. Adobe provides a more complete ecosystem of tools, including DVD authoring, if that’s important. Find your bliss.

  If you’ve done some projects then you already know that Resolve is now a very capable editing tool. You can always keep FCP on standby, but Resolve should be good to go from here.
