  Ghost background render?

  I noticed something weird when relaunching final cut pro X recently bcause it was slowing down and beachballing constantly. Before I quit there would be this question window coming up : Do you want to cancel background render?
  Actually the background render option was not selected in the preferences
  so I really wonder what that could mean?
