FCP7 export – sound file muted
Hi,
I have a clip to export. I’ve had to replace one audio file on one section of the clip. It plays and sounds great so I go to export and everything is perfect except for the audio file that I had to import after it was boosted. Why would it play fine in FCP and not on the export?
Would love some help!

weird, and really hard to guess at a solution.
a stab in the dark:
is the new file an MP3 or AAC?
FCP preferes AIFF or WAVare the original files formats that FCP likes,
no nasty H264?are you monitoring properly?

at the lower left of your timeline is a small speaker icon, press it and you get more audio controls,
such as solo and mute.
these controls affect what you hear, but not what gets written into an export.“I’m exporting to H264…”
maybe try a simple export as QuickTime Movie first.
if that’s ok, convert to h264is the the correct part of the sound file?
FCP’s audio renders can sometimes get mixed up and render the wrong portion of the file.
solution is to use the Tools Menu > render manager to delete audio renders for that sequence,
and re-rendernick

Nic you are fab, I am not sure which worked as I did a few things at once but it’s all good now.

That was interesting regarding the render issue. I think it may have been that because when I went to export the render light would flick up on that file…
