  Exporting a TIFF Sequence in FCP 7

  Hi-

  I have a 90 minute film – 2048×1152; 23.98 – that I’m trying to export to a TIFF sequence. I’ve been setting an in and out point in my timeline and then going File –> Export –> Quicktime Conversion. Selecting Image Sequence from the dropdown menu and then changing the default PNG to TIFF. Seems pretty simple.

  The problems are strange. First, all seems to be going well. I can see it start to exporting and the numbered TIFF files seem to be in sequence. But when it stops it’s always the same:

  65,336 frames in total, when it should be something like double that. The first frames are from a scene towards the end of the film, then around frame 1000 it jumps to the middle of the film. The TIFFs move along in sequence from there, before ending (at 65,336) with the beginning of the scene from the first TIFFs.

  I’ve tried this twice and on different machines, but always with the same result.

  Any suggestions or advice?

  i’d suggest exporting your film as a quicktime move, same settings, self contained.

  then use that single file as a source for your TIFFs,
  either from FCP, or Quicktime.
