  • Problem with aspect ratio export issues!!!

Posted by Chris Haines on July 3, 2015 at 5:22 pm

I have a client that needs the following:

Export multiple images from photoshop that are 680×324
Import the images into FCP7 and animate them for advertisements
Export them in the same size (680×324) and have them no larger than 25mb

I create a custom size in FCP7 before I start adding clips (680×324) and start animating. When I export the file is either stretched out, or insanely low quality and blurry. And it NEVER matches up to the size in which I either imported the images as, or set the custom size settings to.

Have tried to export just as a QT using current sequence settings AND QT conversion with custom export size (680×324) No luck on both.

However – if I use the normal settings for FCP7 (apple prores 422 1920×1080) and edit with the photoshop images (680×324) the export comes out in 576×325 – NOT stretched and NOT blurry. But now there are letterboxes and its not quite the size I need. Please help.

unless you work with larger scale images, i wouldn’t edit in HD, as you;re blowing the pics up, then shrinking them.

    “I create a custom size in FCP7”
make sure the pixel aspect ratio is square.
