Converting to DVD-NTSC from Europe
We created a film in Europe and wish to send it to US film festivals. Some of them require a DVD in NTSC format. What is the best way to convert?
Originally, we filmed on a Canon 7d (so the files were H.264), which were then converted to Apple Pro Res 25fps (1920×1080) to work on FCP 7. At the end we exported into:
-H.264,
-DVD Pal,
-Bluray
-(large) Quicktime.Could I use one of the above mentioned to convert, or would I need to go back to FCP to change the frame rate?
Also, what is the situation with Bluray NTSC? If the Bluray we exported is region free, I am guessing that I would not need to re-convert, right?

to make a DVD, one approach is to take your Quicktime export,
copy it, then “Conform” it in Cinema Tools to 23.98
drop the conformed file into Compressor and make the DVD files from that.
they will be NTSC as Compressor will read the frame ratethe film will play slower, of course.
check the conformed QT first to see if it;s acceptable for you.if they do accept BluRay, then just go with that.
there is no such thing as an NTSC BLuRay, PAL and NTSC are Standard Def formats
but BluRay can be any frame rate, just about.unless your primary market is television, i would not shot at 25fps.

Why not directly burn Canon 7D video into DVD disc? Because the transcoding process would cause video quality loss more or less. It’s better you find a dvd burning tool which allow canon video as import file and create a DVD out of it.

the Prores Files are the new master.
video loss is insignificant.quite pointless to re-link to the H264 and grade.
maybe could be done in resolve
but what you you export to? a prores file!nick
