  New L&T Canon E1-Plugin 1.6 for 5D Mark III not working?

  Hey guys,

  I understand that Canon pretty much stopped supporting FCP 7 after Apple discontinued it but I saw that Canon recently released an update for the E1 Movie Plugin just a couple of weeks ago (EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro 1.6)

  Has anyone had any success ingesting Mark III footage through L&T into FCP7 using this plugin?

  I’ve been trying for a while with no success. What happens goes as follows:

  – Footage shows up in the L&T browser
  – I add Selection to Queue
  – It starts processing it as normal
  – The process finishes as usual but no new media is created (I’m trying to ingest as Prores Proxy)
  – In the L&T browser you can see the clip with a half filled blue circle instead of the usual full circle

  Does anyone know of a way to get the E1 plugin working? Am I missing something? My folder structure is perfectly intact.

  If this plugin really doesn’t work, does anyone know of a fast third party software I can use to bring the footage in? I need to keep timecode so I’ve looked into 5DtoRGB but it’s glacial slow.

  Any kind of help will be forever appreciated it.

  Hi Martin,

  I’ve been using the plug-in for a year now, but suddenly I had the same issues as you have.
  I got a new computer (Hackintosh), looked for the plug-in – GONE!

  Anyhow, I would suggest you to load your 5D MKiii footage via Resolve. It is pretty simple, but takes a lot of time.

  Thanks Simon! I actually ended up using MPEG Streamclip to convert the footage. Will definitely look into Resolve next time.

  Also a great idea! Just remember your TC is lost when using Mpeg Streamclip. 🙂

  Yep yep. It was a necessary evil unfortunately. I just made sure they were labeled properly so we’re able to reconnect to them.
