Is it possible to upgrade my FCP 6.0.4 to FCP 7? I need to edit a project that’s been started in that version of Final Cut, but I can’t find any upgrade available on the Apple website. Does anyone know where an upgrade could be found online? Thanks!

First off…FCP 7 was discontinued over 3 years ago. Apple is moving forward with FCP-X…which is completely different from the old FCP.

Second…it wasn’t something you can download. Like FCP 6, it came as a package of DVDs. It is a part of Final Cut Studio 2009 (Final Cut Studio 3…but it was never called that).

The only way to find this is to buy it used on eBay or Craigslist…

Thanks for the information. it was very helpful! So I guess there never was any way to just upgrade directly from 6.0.4 to 7? This is a project that’s been in production for several years, hence the old software. Now I know that I”ll need to install FCP 7 directly.

No…FCP 6 and FCP 7 were separate apps. No downloadable upgrade…it was a full install.
