If I have footage in 60p, is it ok if I just drop it into a 24fps timeline? It looks fine. If it’s a problem, should I cut it down in Cinema Tools first?
I have footage I shot in 60fps (I forget if it’s progressive or interlaced) and 24p. I want a final project that is 24fps. When working with it in the timelines, I dont see anything noticeably problematic when I just drop the 60fps footageinto a 24fps sequences. So, is it OK if I do that? Will I have problems going down the road? If so, should I convert it with Cinema Tools, MPeg Streamclip or another program first?

Unfortunately, there’s no simple cut and dry answer.
Are you monitoring on a TV or broadcast monitor? If not, then you wouldn’t see anything “noticeably problematic,” even in the worst case scenario, as you typically can’t see fields mismatches or cadence issues on a computer monitor.

60p in a 23.98 timeline looks decent, in my experience. Not as bad as 30fps in a 24fps timeline, where it’s jumpy. 60p has enough frames to keep it looking smooth.

Im using my computer and a Samsung Syncmaster. So far, I see no problems on it.
That said, I’ve also noticed some footage is 30fps. It doesnt seem jumpy. All the footage is from a sitdown interview which might be why. Should I convert exported .mov files I’m using to 24fps though to ensure no problems? Or do you think I can trust my eyes here? I realize there is no clear cut answer to this.
