    Hello,

I am a high school teacher, and have been working on projects in AIC. When I want to convert the final videos and upload to YouTube, I use compressor with the built in setting (adjusted to 100% of source) for creating the MP4.

At work I have the following system:

    MBP
    2GHZ Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333 MHz DDR3

At home I have the following system:
    iMac
    3.1 GHz Intel Core i7
    8GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Why is it, that with the same settings, and the default config of Compressor, that a file can take me 3-4x longer to compress on the iMac, than on the MBP? I recently had to upload a 2 1/2 hour assembly, and it took over 10 Hours on the iMac, and it didn’t even finish, before I gave up and took it to work, where the MBP had it done in under 3.

I tried messing around with the settings for cores in compressor on my iMac, and it kept causing issues. I would think, with a basic install, the iMac, should be at least, as fast at the MBP, if not faster.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
