  Creating a prores 422 from a 4444 is causing increased contrast and saturation

  Hi everyone,

  I have a debut short that has been taken up for distribution.
  The company require an apple prores 422.

  I have a lovely 4444 copy, but when I take it into FCP7 and export, I’m getting a version with higher contrast and saturation. As a test I also tried importing an h264 and outputting it in prores 422 and the same increase in contrast and saturation took place.
  (This is comparing all versions in quicktime on same screen side by side so its def not a monitor issue)

  Presume I’m doing something wrong!
  I’m now really behind on producing the deliverables.
  Can anyone help and point me in the right direction?

  avoid going though FCP to do this.
  use Quicktime PLayer 7, Compressor, or Mpeg Streamclip

  Hi Doug.
  Thanks a million.
  QuickTime 7 was the answer.
  It did a great job.
  Can’t believe FCP, being an apple product, was causing such a problem. Many thanks for the advice!
  I will deliver tomorrow and if lucky we might apparently make I-tunes for valentines day!

  I was having the same problem with the same codecs. Just like Nick advised, QT worked for you and Compressor worked for me.

  Seems like I had my Nicks and Dougs mixed up.
  Glad you sorted it too. I was not having a good time…
