Okay, I did some searches on this already, but didn’t what I was looking for. My apologies if it has been asked before.

I’m trying to create a running timecode / digital clock effect. I’m working on a project where portions of the video are seen “through” a camcorder. So it looks like we’re looking through a viewfinder or LCD screen. That means there should be some running timecode going.

I know about the “Timecode” effect, but it seems inadequate: you can’t change the font, and it creates a black box under the timecode, whereas I want the timecode to be overlayed on the video. Is there an easy expression to do this, where I some control of the timecode?

    Thanks,
    Naveen

Create a solid and add the effect Effects>Text>Numbers (I forget the exact name). There are settings in the effects controls to set what type of text, such as timecode. In the effects controls there is an “edit” link. When you click this you can change the text wording, font etc.
