  Transcoding MXF file to XDCAM EX

  Hi Everyone,

  Our client for the video we are shooting tomorrow is looking to get his files not in Apple ProRes, but in XDCAM EX format. He claims we can just transcode the MXF file from the contents folder of the C300 to XDCAM EX to edit with.

  Any ideas on the most convenient way to transcode these files for the client?

  FIRST, you need to install the Canon XF plugin for FCP:
  https://learn.usa.canon.com/resources/blogs/2012/20120224_xf_plugin_fcp_x.shtml

  Then, in the LOG AND TRANSFER preferences (sprocket drop down menu in the L&T interface) you set the CANON XF option to NATIVE. FCP will then re-wrap the MXF as QT…so you’ll have XDCAM 422 QT files.
