why is my paning and zooming not smooth?
Hi i would like to upload my work so you guys can see what i have done so far. If anyone would like to help please send email so i can send it to you. I am trying to zoom and pan a still image in AE 6.5 but it is very jumpy. when i am playing the preview it looks fine, but once i export to .mov or avi it looks very jumpy. I followed a tutorial from this site and have tried to implement it into my work. i am using position scale and anchor points. What i am trying to do is pan across an image of a desk and then zoom into the security monitor that is on the desk. I have also used the easy ease tool but it doesnt seem to help.

THis could be any number of problems.
If it’s an uncompressed video that you’ve rendered out, and you’re trying to play it in quicktime or windows media player (for example)it may play jumpy because there is too much data coming at your video player at once – you’re processor can’t keep up with that so it skips frames. Uncompressed video is not meant for playback – try compressing your final video and see if that helps.
If it is playing badly on a TV screen, it may be that you need to render with fields (interlaced). Motion that looks good on a computer can often look bad on a TV screen. Interlacing can fix that.
It could also be that you just need to add motion blur, but I suspect that that’s not the problem.

Thanks for your reply, Where can i find the option to compress? I ve never seen that before in AE

well, you shouldn’t compress in AE. You can, but you shouldn’t because it looks terrible, compared to compressing in a video compression program. But for preview purposes it’s OK.
In your render queue, in the output module, you choose the format options – that’s the place where the different codecs come up.
