    Hey Guys,

I have a question in regards to a project I’ve been troubleshooting for some time.

After some issues with my timeline (24p footage in a 30p timeline), I recreated my project from scratch so that it’s now completely Apple Pro Res 422 HQ 24p.

After encoding for DVD, by sending it straight to the compressor, I’m encountering the same problem over and over again. I keep getting image blur whenever the camera is stationery and shooting a wide, where the character is in the middle of the frame, moving their head from little to right, it’s as if their face is going out of focus.

I’ve experimented with everything from changing the GOP structure, to setting my interlace settings during the compression in different orders (upper field, lower field) but obviously I’m not doing something right. Does anyone have any ideas? Here are my specs.

    FCP Timeline:

Apple Pro Res 422 HQ 24p.
    Upper field dominance

Encode in Compressor (and DVD Studio Pro):
    Straight to Compressor
    90-Minute Best Quality for DVD-Customized
    Lower field dominance
    Bitrate: 7.7 average (CBR)
    GOP: un-changed from pre-set (15- closed)

    Thank you.

Thanks David…Would you vouch for this workflow?

According to Ken Stone, export using “Current Settings” and then drag the stand-alone file into Compressor and use the regular Compressor 90-minute settings. Do I have to customize after that, such as manually changing the encoder to read 23.98?
