  Funky Lines Through Dip to Color Dissolve

  I feel like I know the answer to this question, but I really want there to be another answer besides “convert your footage to ProRes” because I’ve gotten really far into this project and don’t want to go back and re-edit the entire thing.

  I’m working with footage that I grabbed off of YouTube, Netflix, other sites using Quicktime screen record. I exported it as 1080i. I did not transcode it before working with it in final cut 7. When I put a dip to color dissolve over two clips, I get flashing diagonal lines over the transition. It’s ugly.

  If someone has a simple, quick solution I would be eternally grateful.

  How can we give you the correct advice when you don’t want to hear it? That’s going to make things difficult.

  Go into the SEQUENCE SETTINGS and change the COMPRESSOR to ProRes. Then render. If that doesn’t do it, I have no other solutions that you want to listen to.
