  Configuring Luma Warning

  Hi all,
  i’ve recently been working with a client that’s asking me:

  HD programs must not have luminance levels above 700 millivolts (mv) or below 0 mv.

  The program’s color difference signals (R-Y, B-Y) must not rise above 700 mv or fall below 0 mv when measured with a 350 millivolt offset.

  I’m pretty sure that the FCP warning for luma excess is under 700mv because some of the original footage goes in luma excess even before i start working on it, besides recent material i sent him was exceeding and i never had problems wilts few last programs (still exceeding) didn’t pass QC, is there any configuration window that allows me to set different levels for luma excess?

  Just a quick info-question… Have you tried FCP’s luma-safe tool? It is, as far as I know, always safe for broadcast.

  Aparently its set to some other different configuration level and not 700 MV

  Actually I didn’t mean the symbols that just warn you when you’re off limits. There is an actual filter in FCP that makes sure you’re broadcast-safe. (It might actually be called broadcast-safe filter). I’m a little rusty since I have made the jump to premiere.
