    Hi there,

Im attempting to upload an old film I made to youtube. It was shot on 16mm and transfered to beta and thats what I imported it into FCP as at the time. Normally when i export for Vimeo I use the following settings:

    quicktime conversion
    H264
    restricted to 5000 kbits/sec
    keyframes every 24 frames
    best quality

    HD1280x720 16:9

These setting usually work just fine for me, and the piece is just 10 minutes long. I have another film (shot on Sonyz1) I exported recently with the same settings and it was fine. This time however the file is exporting very large at almost 1 GB.

Does anyone know the reason this might be? and how can I solve it?

    [Aine Ni Fhaolain] “quicktime conversion”
Don’t use QuickTime Conversion. Export a Self-Contained QuickTime Movie. You will forever have a master digital copy of your movie. Drop that file into Compressor and choose a h.264 setting with a bit rate between 4-6K.

[Aine Ni Fhaolain] “keyframes every 24 frames”
And why “24” instead of “7” or “37”?
You have no idea on which is the best value, so set it always AUTO and let the software do his job.
    And also always “Multipass”.
