    Hi,

Quick, hopefully basic question. I’ve recently had to install FCP7 on my mac to service some clients who still use it, and Im trying to find out how to update it to the latest version. My first through was through the apple store but i cant find any updates there, Im assuming because they dont own 7 any more and are now all about X? Is that right? How can I update to the latest version of 7? Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

If you’ve already installed it, then all you need to do is go to the SYSTEM PREFERENCES and run the SYSTEM UPDATE…

[Sue Mi Ko] “Then I heeded Shane Ross’ advice to do a system update. Is that osx update to yosemite.”

I don’t recommend updating your OS to 10.10 Yosemite. That is two OS versions BEYOND the last one to officially support FCP 7. IN fact, many people report issues with FCP 7 on Yosemite…and Mavericks. Somethings don’t work for them. Others report no issues at all. I use it with 10.9.5 on my laptop…but rarely. I still have a partition on my tower with 10.7 on it for FCP.

[Sue Mi Ko] “Hi, I’m trying to upgrade to fcp 7.0.3.”

Upgrade from what? The downloads from Apple only update FCP 7…not any previous version like FCP 6, FCP 5. And updates might not work under 10.10…because Apple no longer supports FCP 7 nor updates for it.
