  • Settings for exporting GoPro footage, sequence is PAL SD DV50

Master sequence and footage is PAL 625 SD with DV50 codec (HPX500)

I also have some GoPro footage, that I wish to use in the sequence.
The GoPro being progressive, I understand I might get issues with movements, etc.

But, what codec is best to use when exporting with MPEG Streamclip?
Also, the footage from the GoPro seems to be 1920×1080 (QT7 movie inspector). Should I in the MPEG-streamclip crop the film, or is that best done in FCP?

Any tips are (as always) greatly appreciated!

FCP7 plays the best with ProRes. The GoPro shoots a h.264 .mov file, and FCP chokes pretty quickly on h.264. I would transcode to ProRes, and do my resizing in FCP. I don’t like making visual determinations such as resizing during the transcoding process. Better to leave yourself the resolution to pan/scan your footage in FCP.

    Just my $.02
