Standard Definition 16:9 to letterbox
I have a video filmed in SD 16:9 and the dub house is saying I need to letterbox it in order to get it on broadcast. I have never heard of this problem in the past from a dub house so I am not sure the best way to do it.
I made a 4:3 timeline in final cut, dropped in the 16:9 video and sized it to fit that window, did a pro res export and then I was told there is issues with the quality that they can no air it.
Anyone have a better way of doing this?

Are they expecting an HD export? 1920×1080?

No this extra project was filmed in SD 16:9 and I am being requested to deliver in 4:3.

If the letterbox is too low quality, then you might have to deliver 4:3 Pan & Scan. Make a 4:3 sequence…make the 16:9 image fill that…and reposition each shot so that it fills the screen, and focuses on the areas you need focused on.
Odd…they asked for Letterboxed, and you gave it to them, and they said it’s too low quality? Seems to me you did it right.
