  • My FCP 7 has Windows Media export; colleagues’ don’t

I am running FCP 7 on a Mac Pro (G5?) and when I go to Export/Quicktime Conversion I get a list that includes Windows Media. This is great for my PC clients and I use it quite a bit. However, none of my colleagues who also have FCP 7 have this option. Can anyone explain why I can export to .wmv straight from Final Cut and no one else here can?

DO you happen to have Flip4Mac installed on your computer?

Yes, I have Flip4Mac. Is that it? I didn’t realize it was embedded in FCP.

it isn’t: a limited demo that allows you up to a 30-second-long output came with the bundle. But to output anything longer, you must upgrade it, I think it costs around 50 bucks for the low-end version.

I definitely purchased and upgraded at some point because I can output any length of .wmv I want. Thanks for clearing that up.

If you ever have to wipe and re-install, you’ll have to re-install the authorization for that plug in as well.
