  Macbook pro screen turning black when using FCP 7

  Hi there.

  My macbook pro has begun to turn to a black screen when opening FCP 7, the laptop itself is still working but the monitor/screen just turns black and I can’t do anything so I have to hit the power button and restart. At first it was doing it usually when I was rendering but now it seems to be doing it as soon I just play back in the timeline. It has occasionally done it whilst not using FCP but usually its FCP that triggers it.

  I have tried reinstalling the FCP 7 package but that still hasn’t helped, I could format my macbook but would rather not. Is this a common issue? Has anyone had similar issues? Could it be a graphics card problem? I’m still under warranty.

  When you launch FCP, and it becomes black…press ESC or CMD-F12. Exit full screen mode.

  Thats not the problem Shane, it seems to be a graphics hardware issue. I’m going to take it into a apple repair store.
