    Hi everyone,
I am exporting an edit of some footage shot with Canon DSLRs at 24fps (23.976), edited in FCP and color corrected in Apple Color and I have a problem with the final export: it doesn’t play back as smoothly as it does on the FCP preview. Here’s a clip:

Although perhaps you wouldn’t call it jumpy, I think it’s not as smooth as it should be.

I think that I got all the settings correct:
    – never changed the framerate during conversion from h264 to apple prores
    – edited in a 23.98 timeline in FCP
    – exported as apple prores 23.976fps and converted with mpeg streamclip still maintaining the 23.976 framerate

I am not sure what the issue might be. I thought it could be my computer but I’ve tried to play back the same file on another Macbook and I still encountered the same problem. If you guys have any tips I’ll be immensely grateful.

Well, I can see we have jumped all the way back in time to Tracy Chapman… but…

the ‘jumpiness’ you are seeing is a result of the frame jnterpolation that DSLR Long-GOP will push into your footage. FCP/COLOR especially does not play nice with Canon H264.
