Final Cut Pro 7
Is it possible to upgrade existing FCP 7 “academic” to regular commercial version? Or must one buy an entire new install in order to start earning money? Currently want to keep using FCP7 which have now.

You cannot “upgrade” an Academic license to commercial. You just have to buy another version of FCP.

If you like the way FCP7 functions you should check out Premiere Pro.

You’re welcome Bill. I also agree with Stephen though – you should have a look at Premiere Pro. Since FCP 7 is EOL (end of life) you’ll need to move on at some point. Premiere Pro CS6, or as I affectionately call it FCP 8, is very similar to FCP and easy to pickup. It’s worth a look (or even FCP X @ $300)!

Does anyone know why when pulling sound clip down from work canvas on to the time line that the green sound bars are now separated? There are two blank sound areas between my one sound clip? Must have bumped or changed something and I do not know how to change back to normal? Thanks

Can you just right click on the new Empty Audio Track and select Delate Track? Right click by where you hit the enable disable audio speaker button.
