Puppet tool: Paint on Transparent
Anyone know what this feature does? I’ve looked in the manual, a few books, and on-line, and I can’t find any information.

With the “On Transparent” box checked, any portions of the image that are outside of the mesh area(s) will not be displayed. So, for example, if you have a text layer and you apply the puppet tool to the first two letters and then click “On Transparent” all the letters after those first two will disappear.
Another case in which this might apply is if you have any masks set to the “none” mode on the layer (the Puppet tool looks for a mask to use as the mesh area before it creates outlines from the alpha).

When you have multiple shapes on shape layer (or many object separated by an alpha channel) turning this on AFTER you have added some puppet points, makes anything outside the mesh invisible.
Also anything not included in the mesh, like some stray pixels will be made invisible as well.
