PAL to NTSC in Compressor – Newbie question
Hi,
This is kind of a newbie question – please forgive my ignorance:
I have 10 files taped in Portugal (PAL) that need to be transcoded to NTSC, for use on broadcast TV here in Canada. I am using Compressor with the Apple ProRes 422 HD codec, but it is taking forever… a typical 30GB file (about 01:15:00 run time) takes no less than 60 hours, and the output file measures at about 130GB.Any suggestions or workarounds that would allow me to do it faster – using only what I have, btw?
Here is my setup:
Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 (Compressor 3.5.3, Cinema Tools 4.5.1)
MacBook Pro 2009 with OS X Lion (10.7.5)Here are the original files specs:
File format: QuickTime movie
MPEG 2 Video, Linear PCM, Timecode
1920 x 1080
25 FPS
Compressed with XDCAM HD422 1080i50
2 audio channels @ 48.00 KhzAnd these are the settings I am using for transcoding in Compressor:
File format: QuickTime movie
Codecs: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), Timecode, Linear PCM
1920 x 1080
29.97 FPS
2 audio channels at 48.00 Khz.Any input greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
