  Hi there,

  I am currently editing a lot of video that i edit and post online, and am looking for some suggestions to help speed up render times etc. I film on either a Canon DSLR and edit in PR422, or on my Sony XD cam. My current build is as follows:

  Processor 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
  Memory 24 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
  Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
  Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

  I use the Qmaster system to setup the use of 16 instances for both rendering and export…

  But to be honest i feel like i’m flying a little blind at this stage. Would love some help from you guys! Anything from updating/adjusting the build or tweaking any settings etc…!

  The only thing that will speed up render times is a new computer with better processors. RAM helps SLIGHTLY, but you have more than enough…more than FCP actually uses. A better graphics card will only help with FX that are boosted by GPU, and few are.

  Nope…new faster machine is only way to speed up renders. If you are talking about exporting H.264 QTs, then you can get the Compress HD from Matrox, or Turbo 264 from Elgato.
