  Combining several clip to create one movie

  Hello everyone.

  First I got 2 gig of ram – 256 mb (nvdia 6200) and Venice 3000 (amd 2.4)
  I Got After Effects Cs3
  My Quicktime version is 7.0

  I check few of your tuts about After effects and i can say i learned alot from this site. Yet there is a problem which i cannot seem to overcome.

  I have drawn a map and on it some world and all the girds and stuff (diferent layers) . Later i found some this and some that and worked on them so it looked like a perfect world. I was working on 8000 px on photoshop.

  I ve saved the layers and open them in AE. And found that in every little thing i want to animate will take hours to render (also my pc stops for 5 minutes every time i move them from point a to b in screen). So instead of taking them at once, i took them piece by piece and start to render them to little clips (of ”.mov” s and later ”avi”s) when i had all the clips i want. I load them on a new composition .It was arranged on such way that, once the first animations stops, than the next one starts. So it would really look like a proper animation.

  However i simply cannot render them as a whole. it just starts rendering. and on the first clip it comes after rendering, it stops and later says its failed.
  What can i do? is there a way i can combine these clips and than render?

  Some other things that might be helpfull in order for you to understand what my problem is.
  Im making the movie on 1280 to 720
  Ihave tried Quicktime mov clips. Ihave tried Uncompressed Avis (few gigs for few seconds.. Damnn) And ı have used compressed Avis
  Yet non worked.

  It sounds as if you’ve run out of RAM while rendering. You might need to use the Secret settings. Hold down the Shift key, and select Edit>preferences>General. Keep holding the Shift key down until you see the large preferences dialog box. Look for “secret” as the last choice in the dialog. If you don’t see it, do it again, holding down the shift key longer.

  In the Secret dialog, try setting “purger frames” to 5 maybe. Render again, but keep Task manager open to watch RAM usage.

  It worked.
  All i needed was to downgrade the size of the files.
