  TIFF/EPS –> After Effects –> Avid Express Pro Issues

  Alright,

  So I designed credits (titles) in Photoshop. I used the 0.9 PAR, NTSC, 8 bit format. I exported as both uncompressed TIFF files and EPS files. These are basic text on black bg, no motion at all.

  I bring them into AE and the EPS looks better… so I use that file with the goal of exporting Quicktime ,mov files that I can drop into a project I am working on in Avid Express Pro. I am having some issues with how they look in Avid… after much fiddling, the below settings worked very well for my titles that were white (with black bg) but are still not super crisp for a red hue title – fuzzy edges, some pixelation (also w/ black bg). The film is in 720×480, as are the Photoshop files.

  Render Settings — 8 bit Color, Field Rendering Upper First
  Output Settings — DV/DVCPRO NTSC – Progressive, 720×486

  Is there anything I am missing? Could it be with the original photoshop file? Export settings from AE? Import settings on Avid?

  Any help/guide lines would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

  DV doesn’t like red. It actually doesn’t like graphics. Try knocking down the saturation of the red.

  Hello,

  first change the render settings to 16 bit lower field first.

  then change the output settings to the animation codec.

  The Avid can import that codec, as well as that codec interacts better with color and it smooths out any aliasing that you dont want.

  If that doesn’t work send me an e-mail and we can figure this out.
