  FCP 7 versus Premiere Pro CS6 when speed is of the essence

  I’m about to start editing a 4 day seminar which includes one camera and Keynote / Powerpoint movie files.

  Speed is of the essence since I’m approaching my deadline rapidly.

  So my question is: Should I use Premiere Pro CS6 or FCP7.

  The footage was shot at 720p on a Panasonic GH-2. With FCP I’ll have to log and transfer before I can start editing while Premiere can deal with the files natively. BUT, it seems that exporting from Premiere is excruciatingly slow – so I’m wondering which program can get the job done fastest? In the end it is all going on DVD.

  Any input would be greatly appreciated!

  Look into Presto from RedGiant Software. Works with both Premiere and FCP. Could make your edit go faster.

  Not with Long-GOP footage. Only intra-Frame footage (DVCPro HD and AVC-Intra). Great encode times with those codecs.
