  • FCP 7 crashes: incompatible codec??

    Hi all.
I’m running FCP 7.0.3 on OS 10.6.8. One of my projects keeps crashing, either while I try to open, occasionally during editing, or as soon as I send to Compressor and click “submit.”

    Crash Analyzer says:
    Incompatible Codec

This crash appears to have been caused by a third-party codec.
    Suggested Actions

    Update all codecs.
Use System Toolkit to disable or remove unnecessary third-party codecs.
    Relevant Line

    2 … Uncompressed 422.component 0x0ce50217 v210decodeComponentDispatch + 247

I don’t know how to update codecs. I used System Toolkit to disable every non-Apple component, and the problem persisted. Although it was an Apple component, I disabled FCP Uncompressed 422. Then I had no problems opening the project in FCP, but it wouldn’t let me open my sequence with that codec missing (even though there were no 422 assets involved in the sequence or project.)

Based on what I’ve read in other threads, I’ve also trashed FCP user preferences and repaired disk permissions.

    Any ideas?
