Ok, so here’s my problem. Basically I am making a video out of one solid, which I am using as the floor, it is a 3d object, and I have a background, which is not a 3d layer, I have set up pictures on the “floor” (3d solid) and I am trying to set up the camera so that it will fly up to each individual picture kind of like a slidshow, I got the idea from Andrew Kramers’ 3d reflections. Well, when I have the camera fly in on some text, all the keyframes are set perfectly, until I set the keyframes for the camera fly away from the text and toward a picture, the keyframes for the picture mess up the way the camera moves for the whole scene. I hope this all makes sense, I think it has something to do with the camera orientation or point of interest, but I tried messing with both and I didn’t get anyware.

Hmm … Use another view of the comp to keep an eye on all your objects. Sometimes things look good from one camera position, but not from another. Keeping a new view (perspective or top) open allows you to see where everything is in a kind of “real-world” way.

And you might want to keep “auto-orient” off for the camera, unless you really know what you’re doing.

And use as few keyframes as possible. Keep all your objects static, and just move the camera. Keep it simple for now.

I am having this exact same issue.

I am using CS5. When I try to animate a camera, its as if all the other layers are one image, they move together. I can confirm the rest of the layers are in 3D. Changing X,Y,Z values moves the all layers together as if it were a still picture. Please help.

It sounds as if the layers are inside a comp. You should click the little sunburst button for the comp to collapse transformations and make the layers 3D again.

If that didn’t do it, get back to us.
