prores 442HQ files playing with reverb or out of sync in QT player on Lion mac pro
Hi folks
I hope someone can help with this, i am working on a
new mac pro system running osx LIon and fcp 7.0.3
i have footage shot on xdcam HD that is on the system
in prores 422HQ format. this footage plays back with an
audio delay/reverb effect the audio sounds like one track
is in sync and one track is out of sync.This problem does
not occur when playing back the clips from the beginning
but when you scroll down to a talking head and then play the
problem occurs if you then pause and then playback the problem
corrects itself, this happens not only
in fcp but also when played on the desktop in QT player
with fcp closed, i have this problem with 10.7.4 of the OS
and have reformatted and performed a clean install of the
operating system and still have the problem in 10.7.0
without fcp installed.
the same media plays back fine on other mac pro fcp
systems but they are running snow leopard not Lion.
i cannot replicate the fault on any other mac, is is a
compatability issue with the version of QT player in the
Lion OS?? has anyone ecountered this?please help!!

problem fixed!
although its not possible to install snow leopard on the new mac pro’s, I was able to clone a snow leopard OS
drive from another mac pro and use it on the new macpro without issue. Using the snow leopard OS has solved the quicktime playback issues.
it is worth noteing however that the lion OS did not cause problems with all prores file types in fact it was fine with prores 422 and HQ from other projects which leads me to believe that it may only be a problem with prores files that have originated as XDCAM HD, but i have not had time to test it.
