I am trying to illustrate a point of pushing away a cobweb (new revenues from old content). Does anybody have any idea how to approach this? My first thought was to create a spiderweb in photoshop, then live trace it in illustrator. I then brought it into after effects and was going to use shatter then inverse it. Looks totally hokey.

My next idea was to take the paths from the illustrator document and paste them on a solid layer, then manually adjust the key frames(there are like 100 masks). In theory I know this would work, it will be just very time consuming. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Dean builds a spider web in PS, then brings into AE, here:

I’m confused about what kind of motion you’re trying to apply to your spiderweb… Is it supposed to be attaching to something or being removed?

Maybe bring in your photoshop file and use the Mesh Warp effect? I would thinking keyframing the Mesh Warp might accomplish what you’re looking to do.
