    Hello Everyone,

First time posting here, but have been to this site before to read up on all sorts of great things. Love the community here.
I can’t seem to find the answer for this odd question I have.

    BACKGROUND/EQUIPMENT
I have a Early 2011 Macbook pro 15″, the long idea has been for me to install two Sata 3 SSD’s as this machines is generally used as a portable workstation for smaller film projects. However it has just occurred to me as I read into the idea some more that Apple never fully acknowledge or provided a fix for the Optical Sata 3 port to work with a Sata 3 drives without problems. The main Sata 3 port works fine, but it would seem that the optical sata port, in 2011, will only be stable with a Sata 2 Hard Drive.

    QUESTION:
My train of thought tells me that it’s more important for the media of my projects to be on a faster drive so that it can feed it to the application fast enough. I don’t use ProRes all the time, but the rare times I do Im wondering if I should make the Sata 2 port my boot/applications drive, and the Sata 3 port my media/project drive?

    WORKFLOW:
    -Final Cut Pro 7
    – After Effects CS 5.5
    – some PhotoShop CS 5.5
    – ProRes422 or ProRes422 (LT)

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason
