    Hi –

I (stupidly) forgot to preserve my folder structure when dumping my files from my Lumix GH2 onto my external drive.

Now, I’m stuck with the problem of converting the files to work with FCP 6.

I have Clipwrap, and have converted using ProRes 422HQ — but it looks like there is a loss in quality compared to the original .MTS. Am I just seeing things or is this the case? After conversion, I see more grain — that is the biggest difference.

Any thoughts? And any ideas on better .MTS to .MOV conversion?

    Thank you!

How do you know the quality difference? You can’t open the .MTS files in Quicktime…but you can open the ProRes ones. Do know that QT doesn’t display the proper color space…the proper gamma…of the footage. Especially QT X…which just flat out stinks. You can only judge the quality on an external HDTV or broadcast monitor, with a proper IO device. ALthough I hear that FCX will show things a bit closer than FCP 7 will.

I watched the .mts in Toast 10 — that’s why I say the .mov doesn’t look as good as the .mts

Ah. Well, at least it’s the same viewer. Not sure it is the best way to judge quality though.

    Hmmmm….
